So... As I mentioned before... I'm HORRIBLE at blogging! LOL This sitting happened a week or so again and I'm just not getting to it but here it is!!
Back in February of 2012, I had the extreme pleasure and honor of photographing a c-section for a
long time client. I was surprised when she asked me because I didn't even think you were allowed to have an extra person in the room and especially not one that wasn't family and armed with a camera!
To say the least, I got all "scrubbed" up and got to witness something truly amazing! I don't think it is something I will ever forget! Witnessing a new life being brought into this world is was powerful thing to behold!
Jumping forward to March...
Unfortunately, do to my moving out of state for a short period (ahem, six months), I was unable to be here for this actual birthday and my dear friend, Alyssa at Captivating Visions Photography, had the privilege of taking his actual one year pictures. HOWEVER, when my dearest client saw I was returning she contacted me about doing a smash cake session. I was SOOOO EXCITED!!
One... I LOVE smash cake sessions. I make the cakes myself when I can and those are my fave! Two... How can you resist watching them have a good ol' time getting nice and messy and exploring those different textures! Oh.. and eating sweet stuff too.. :)
The smashing of the cake was not, however, the exciting part of the sitting. After he let us know he was done with the cake (aka chasing balloons outside of my range LOL), we decided that he seems happy enough still to try and get some more basic shots of him.
He wasn't in the mood to "pose" so we decided that mommy should hold his hands to help him stand since he was on the go anyway and get some big smiles that way. Well, unknown to me, he hadn't really made any attempts to walk on his own. As I'm taking pictures I see Holden let go of mommy's hands and start heading toward me. He's getting to close so I stop shooting and hold out my hands and I realize mommy is yelling that those were his first steps!
This is the sequence leading up to those wonderful moments! We tried a few more times to get him to do it again on camera but apparently he was done with my camera. LOL
We did sit down to get him ready to go and he proceeded to walk back and forth between the two of use a few times and LOVELY the reaction he was getting out of us (MUCH cheering and clapping)!!
These are the moments that make my "job" so worth while... I couldn't imagine not having photography in my life and love seeing these families grow!
